Treasured Timbers pen - own a hand crafted piece of history!
The exploitation of the primeval forest began soon after the first
settlement was established at the place where the river Saint John
empties into the Bay of Fundy, which is now the city of Saint
John. For more than 200 years the Saint John River and its many
tributaries were the only way to move the logs to the mills and the
ships awaiting their precious cargoes, destined for Europe. Many of
these virgin timbers were lost on their way or sank at the mill
ponds. Settling to the bottom of the dark peat colored waters, void
of sunlight and very little oxygen they soon became true Treasured
Timbers. Many lost for more than three hundred years, the quality is
unlike anything available today!
